Anyone who takes race or people or the state or the
form of the state or the seats of power or any other basic value of human
community - all things which have a necessary and honorable place in the
earthly order -anyone who takes these ideas and removes there from this
scale of values, even religious values, divinizing them in an idolatrous
cult, reverses and falsifies the order or things created and ordained by
God.
As persons, human beings possess the rights that they hold from God, these must be maintained over against the collective society, safeguarded from any attack which would tend to deny, abolish or neglect them. Pius XI Encyclical Mit brennender Sorge, 14 March 1937. |
