Prohibition of the Slavonic liturgy by Pope Stephen V (885 A.D.)

This text clearly contradicts the previous one.

Methodius brought to those who heard mysteries and solemn masses which him superstition rather than edification polemic rather than peace ... The celebration of the divine offices, the holy mysteries and solemn masses which Methodius claimed to present in Slavonic were not authorized by anyone...In the name of God and with our apostolic authority we therefore prohibit them, and on pain of anathema, save for simple souls who would not understand otherwise, the Gospel and the texts of the apostles shall be read in this Slavonic language by educated people.
