The Two Swords (commentary on Luke 22:35-38) |
| Both swords, the spiritual and the material sword, belong to the church. But one must be drawn for the church and one drawn by the church: the first by the hand of the priest, the second by that of the knight, but assuredly on the order of the priest and the command of the emperor.
